Second grade has two problems. What are they? Which needs to be solved first?
- You want to make movies about things you are interested in. You need to make a holder, support system to hold your tablet still so you can get good video. You need to build something out of things you have around your house.
- Now you are an independent filmmaker, you can record videos of things you like. Now you need to go get props and start making short videos. Independent film making is a goal here. Your adult is allowed to help if you need it.
Draw your Ideas for your tablet stand AND make a list of your movie ideas
Movie making idea -- Turn your STEM drawings into a movie.
Use Paper, Class Dojo or Flipgrid to draw your holder ideas and share your movies.

For parents, welcome to second grade video creation with Flipgrid. This is if the student is using a tablet.
Para padres, Bienvenido a la creación de vídeos de jardín de infantes con Flipgrid
Kyle's example movies.
1. Showing a community helper student video. Requires a second person to record.
3. Video holder in place. Independent movie maker -- finished product. Beginning story telling using toys. This video was done entirely by himself.
5. Video holder #2 made of Duplo Legos. Kyle discovered the cans moved when he pressed the record button. This is 100% independent movie making. He's reading a book. Kyle is 7 years old in this video. Younger students may need a little help still. That's OK.
|
2. Community helper student video requires a camera person and a student actor.
4. Cans of Soup as a tablet holder. This video is explaining how to record a video with Rex and Mickey.
6. Independent movie with some paper caterpillars Kyle made. This is the view of the tablet on the floor. He could work on the angle to show more next time.
|
7. In this video, Kyle explains and shows how he set up his Paper Caterpillar video. He used big books to hold the tablet’s case so it did not fall forward, and bookshelf in back to support it form falling that direction.
