A collection of bulletin boards I have created for my classrooms, clubs, and departments.

This is a bulletin board at my elementary school. It's more suited to a middle school where more of the students understand quadrants. But, to my delight I had entries every week for the encoding. Most of the elementary-age kids did not really understand the decoding, but they had a good time trying. This board hung outside the cafe and kids would do them in the mornings as well.
One thing I would change is the grid labels...I'd make it Quadrant 1 with X-axis (left to right) being 1, 2, 3...8 and the Y-axis (up and down) being A, B, C....H going up, which would make it Quadrant 1, where students begin their Cartesian grid work. This is also more in line with elementary school understanding. |
