In all the jobs I've had over the years, I always gravitated towards teaching. In teaching, I have always gravitated towards technology, creativity, STEM, and subject integration. I landed in the computer lab teaching 750 kids each week, and I loved it!
Oakcliff Elementary school went through a S.T.E.M. Certification through AdvancEd, during the 2016-2017 school year. I really liked the technology parts of the STEM process that year. At the end of that school year, my principal offered me a recently opened up computer lab teaching position for the 2017-2018 school year. Of course, I accepted it. I took and passed the Engineering and Technology K-12 certification course. I made the move to the CTAE department, and began teaching in the Computer Lab in August 2017. I took over webmaster duties and one of the Twitter handles for the school in 2017. For the 2018-2019 school year, I am sponsoring the TV Production Club. During my time at Oakcliff, I have sponsored many clubs including SeaPerch, Code Club Boys and Code Club Girls with Wonder League Dash and Dot Competition Teams in 2017-2018, Technology Fair Seminar, Lego League Jr., and TV Production. I have co-sponsored Chess Club as well. In January 2016, I began teaching special education at Oakcliff Traditional Theme School. Before that, I taught special education for seven years in Florida and Georgia. When the recession hit, I got laid off. Then I went to law school and became a lawyer. I returned to teaching full-time in November 2016 because I love the kids and the job. I love that I get to create things on a daily basis. |
